Question:
I run daily and am wondering how soon after surgery I can get back to my regular active routine? What are the concerns of doing too much too soon?
Answer:
The usual period of convalescence during which it is extremely important to keep activities to a minimum is the first two weeks following surgery. Increased activity raises your heart rate and blood pressure and can put you at a higher risk of bleeding. Even after this period, it is important to discuss with your surgeon if it is ok to return to regular activities.
