Question:
I live in North Carolina and am very interested in a hairline lowering procedure. Can you give me the name of a doctor who is nearby who does this operation?
Answer:
I have trained a few surgeons who are on the east coast but none are in your area. I am a Director of a Fellowship wherein the doctor spends a year with me and in the course of a year we do as many as 40 of these hairline lower procedures so any of my former Fellows are familiar with the operation.
If travel is a concern, you should know that most of my patients come from out of town and spend two or three nights in the area before returning home, unless they want to spend a little longer having some vacation time.
The operation is done under twilight sleep anesthesia and the patient usually feels good enough the next day to travel home after the dressing is removed. With the minimal bruising and swelling that we see with the operation, with a scarf, cap or a hairstyle combed downward, the results of the surgery are not noticeable. One would be away from work and social activities for perhaps five to seven days. Therefore, if travel is no concern, I would think that the time spent having the operation done by me and returning to your lifestyle would be no more than if it were done by a local surgeon.
