Question: I know the facelift will help with the sagging skin that I have but I also feel like I’ve lost the plumpness of my face as I’ve gotten older. Does the facelift also address this or do I need fillers too?
Answer: Facial aging is a combination of sagging of the facial tissues as well as loss of facial volume. Therefore, strategies for facial rejuvenation include lifting the tissue to a more youthful position and restoring the volume loss. Many patients will notice an improvement after one type of treatment or the other. For example, pulling the facial skin into a tighter position against the face will give the appearance of more volume. Similarly, filling the loose tissue with enough volume will make the skin appear tighter. Patients with significant facial aging often need both lifting and filling to achieve the result they desire.
