Question: How long will it take after a nose job for all signs of surgery to be gone?
Answer: While the improvement in breathing and improved nasal contour will hopefully last for the patient’s entire lifetime, the post-operative bruising and swelling will eventually resolve. Bruising following rhinoplasty can last for up to a month, depending on how extensive the surgery is and whether the patient has a tendency toward easy bruising. It will progress through the natural course of bruising elsewhere in the body, with purple fading to yellow over weeks. After a couple weeks, it typically can be covered with make-up. Swelling after rhinoplasty takes longer to resolve, often months and sometimes up to a year. Most patients have only mild swelling after a couple months.
