Question:
What special care will I have to perform on my nose after my rhinoplasty? Will I need to clean it and how am I supposed to do this?
Answer:
General care of the nose after rhinoplasty varies depending on the type of procedure performed and your surgeon’s preferences. If incisions are made, these may need to be cared for with application of topical antibiotic and sometimes hydrogen peroxide. These incisions are sometimes on the skin that is located between the nostrils known as the columella as well as just within the nostrils and can be easily cared for with the use of cotton swabs. Also, you may be instructed to use nasal saline spray several times during the day to help keep the inside of your nose moist during the healing process.
