Question: Do facelifts fix marionette lines and nasolabial folds?
Answer: Facelifts address excess tissue along the jawline (jowls) and neck, and tightening this tissue improves the appearance of marionette lines, which are the lines in front of the jowls and around the chin. Facelifts can help somewhat with nasolabial folds (lines between nostrils and lips), but to a lesser extent. Nasolabial folds are formed when cheek tissue droops, and a typical facelift does not focus on re-elevating cheek tissue. A midface lift, which is a different procedure, does address this deformity however. Additionally, marionette lines and nasolabial folds can both be treated by injectable fillers, such as hyaluronic acid (i.e. Restylane and Juvederm).
