Question: I’m interested in getting a facelift. In what instance would you combine this with fillers and what would be the result?
Answer: Facial rejuvenation involves 2 major processes: 1) Lifting/tightening loose facial tissues; 2) restoring lost facial volume. Therefore, many strategies for facial rejuvenation combine both approaches to yield the best result. A facelift is a good treatment option to correct loose tissue along the jawline and neck (i.e. jowls). An instance in which this could be combined with fillers is the patient in whom there is also loss of cheek volume or drooping cheek tissue causing deep nasolabial folds. Nasolabial folds are not the target of a facelift, but can be improved significantly with fillers. Fillers can also be used around the eyes to improve a hollowed-out look beneath the eye or to help lift the eyebrow.
