Question: I’m Armenian and I really don’t like that my nose looks much too large on profile. However, I do not want my nose over-reduced as I feel this would look artificial with my other features. What would you recommend?
Answer: A nose that appears too large on profile is usually due to a prominent dorsal hump and/or a drooping nasal tip, which are features commonly seen in people of middle-eastern descent. These features can be changed to varying degrees depending on patient goals, and a less-dramatic effect that is more harmonious with the patient’s other facial features is not only possible, but preferable. It is important to consult with an experienced rhinoplasty surgeon and discuss specific goals, such as preserving some ethnic features.
