Question:
I’m considering a hair transplant but I really cannot take too much time off from work and I don’t really want everyone knowing that I’ve had a transplant. Are there some techniques that involve a shorter recovery so I can return to work sooner? Or is there any way to disguise the fact that I’ve had a transplant?
Answer:
It really depends on what class of hair loss you have and how much you are wanting to have done. With the linear strip technique, the incision can be well-hidden within the hair at the back of the head if it is ~ ¾ to 1 inch in length. The recipient sites themselves will be slightly red and have crusts present for approximately 10-14 days. This can often be hidden by a comb-over hairstyle or headgear. Beyond 10-14 days it will be difficult to tell that anything has been done.
